[Miscellaneous] Moving house
Today was a said day. I've spent the weekend packing up all of my stuff, and today I moved out of the house that I've lived in for the last three years.
It's quite sad really. This has been the longest period that I've spent in a single house since I left home at the start of my undergraduate degree. When my housemate and I found the house, we were consciously looking for somewhere that we'd be happy staying for as long as possible, as both of us were fed up moving around all over the place. It turned out that we made a good choice, and 18 Freddie Tait Street has been a great home to the two of us.
He, incidentally, is staying there whilst he carries on with his postdoc at the Chemistry department here in St Andrews, but arranged for someone to move into my room before it became apparent that I would have to stay a bit longer than I was intending. He's been away on holiday since his graduation last week, which made the whole thing a bit easier. It turns out I had even more stuff than I thought I did, and it took a long time to pack! I reckon I can do the whole thing in three car loads though; most of what's in the pictures went in two trips, and I've just got the kitchen stuff left to pack up later on today.
This is most of my accumulated detritus. Not pictured: all of the stuff in the kitchen and shed. (Credit: David Brown)
I'll miss the place, but I suspect I'll be around there at some point to watch the F1 with my (former) housemate. In the mean time, I've got to squeeze everything into my flat for the summer. It's only for a couple of months, so I'm hoping that I won't have to unpack too much of it. The new flat is fairly nice, and it's much closer to work, but carrying all of the boxes up two flights of stairs wasn't fun!
Goodbye 18 Freddie Tait Street. Thanks for all of the memories.
I'm going to miss this room. (Credit: David Brown)
