[Work] New job

Image
Just a quick drive-by post today - as of 9:00am this morning I'm now officially a member of the Department of Physics at the University of Warwick. That's right, I started my new job, and now I'm actually employed by the place that I work, rather than being a permanent 'visitor' (hah!). I don't expect much will change; I've been here for a year and a quarter already after all, and I've pretty much been doing my new job for a month already. But it's nice to have stability for a bit longer than I did before. The new job is 50% research, 50% project office work for the PLATO Science Consortium . Which should be a lot of fun, as long as I get to maintain my research time (which is something that I'm definitely going to have to fight for). Anyway, I guess I'd better get back to work. I hope to get some more posts up fairly soon about some stuff I've been up to recently.

[Astronomy] Settling in to a new (old) department

This evening marks the end of my first week in my new job. It's been a little odd at times, and a little frustrating at others, but I didn't expect it to be a cake walk. I'm cautiously optimistic though, and I think I'm going to enjoy working with alongside the astronomy group at Warwick. Sadly, none of these buildings is the Physics department. But it's a nice panorama of part of the Warwick campus, so I'm using it. (Credit: en.wikipedia.org)

[Astronomy] New job!

Time for another job update, and as you might guess from the title of this post it's good news - I've got myself a new job. Or rather, a first job. I'm not sure a PhD counts! In the  last update  I posted about my job hunt I talked about the jobs I'd applied to. I also mentioned in my  Le Mans retrospective  that I'd missed out on a couple of things I wanted to do, and had to trek into the town. Well here's the story behind it all.
