[Yearly Review] Part 3: goals for 2014
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
This is the third and final part of my year's end review. Last time I looked at my goals from last year, and found that I'd achieved roughly half of them. This time around I'm going to be setting my goals for this year. As with every time I do this, I'll be trying (on the whole) to make them plausible. They're more to encourage me to push on with my hobbies than to be any kind of life-changing aspirations, so don't expect anything too wild. (Note that * marks those carried over or repeated from last year)
- Recover my savings back to where they were when my PhD stipend ended.
- Save an additional £1000 over the above. (This one is perhaps ambitious)
- Maintain my weight at 12st (*)
- Write some games reviews on this blog. (*)
Work
- Publish my fourth and fifth papers.
- Attend at least one international conference.
- Go on at least one observing run.
Reading
- Read 30 fiction books. (*; This seems to be about the right level for this goal)
- Read the entire Wheel of Time series.
- Read 5 non-fiction books. (*; This seems to be about the right level for this goal)
TV and film
- Watch two TV series from my collection (that I haven't previously watched). (*)
- Watch at least 3 films from my collection (that I haven't previously watched). (*)
Wargaming
- Paint 26 models. (*; This seems to be about the right level for this goal)
- Finish my Lost Hemisphere Challenge list.
- Lost Hemisphere Challenge mark 2.
- Build my WW2 tanks. (*)
- Attend a gaming group meeting
- Participate in at least one Warmachine organised play event.
- Play at least one game of at least two different systems. (*)
Board gaming
- Play at least ten new games. (*, but an increased level)
- Buy at least three new games.
Computer gaming
- Finish 2 games single-player. (*)
Lifesaving
- Attend a local Lifesaving Club training session.
- Maintain my Survive & Save TA status.
- Teach a lifesaving course.
- Compete with an old boys' team at a BULSCA competition.
Lets see how I get on this year. Hopefully I can at least match my success rate from 2013.
